Choose the fixtures and room layout
Decide whether to keep the tub, change the shower, add storage or move fixtures. Check how doors, drawers and people move through the room. If easier access is a goal, discuss entry, fixture placement and the space you need with the design team before choosing products.
Include the work behind the tile
A shower or tub renovation needs a defined base, wall preparation, waterproofing, drain and fixture scope appropriate to the selected products. Ask which existing materials will be removed, what will be inspected after removal and how any hidden damage will be priced. Include lighting and ventilation in the same room plan.
Prepare for construction and completion
Confirm which bathrooms will remain available and how work areas will be separated from daily living. Review inspection responsibilities before walls are closed. At the walkthrough, check the agreed fixtures and finishes and collect care instructions for the installed products.
What to compare in a written proposal
- Shower or tub, vanity, fixtures, tile and flooring included
- Removal, wet-area preparation and waterproofing scope
- Plumbing, lighting and ventilation changes
- Temporary bathroom access, selection allowances and hidden-condition changes
Bathroom renovations need a complete water-management scope
A bathroom project may include a shower or tub, tile, vanity, fixtures, flooring, lighting and ventilation. Changing the layout can require plumbing and electrical coordination beyond replacing finishes. Identify the existing structure, wet areas and any known leakage before defining the work.
Tile and grout alone are not the entire waterproofing assembly. Ask how the specified substrate, waterproofing system, transitions and drainage details will work together. Product compatibility and installation requirements should be resolved for the actual assembly rather than assumed from a finish photograph.
Bathroom estimate and completion questions
Fixture selections, shower configuration, tile layout, concealed repairs and access affect the estimate. Clarify who supplies products and whether preparation, plumbing changes and ventilation work are included. If this is the only usable bathroom, discuss temporary arrangements before construction begins.
Agree which checks and inspections apply to the work and review the finished scope before acceptance. Keep product care instructions and the warranty documents included in the contract. Tell AmeriConstruction your bathroom layout, known problems and renovation priorities through the project form.
